THR reports the deal gives Johnson full creative control of the “Knives Out” franchise, adding, “He doesn’t have to take notes from the streamer. The only contingencies were that Craig must star in.

• Knives Out was a surprise hit in 2019, earning $311 million at the global box office on its modest $40 million budget. It’s the kind of mid-budget, original film that Hollywood doesn’t often make.
• Out the front knives are switchblades that let the wielders deploy the blade right out of the front. Because of that, these knives prove handy when you have to navigate confined spaces. That being said, various experts consider OTF knives to be only good for light-duty use. Considering the delicate construction of out the front knives, rough.

We all know the knives that have been in the game for years: the M9, the Karambit, the Butterfly, etc. They're classics. But one group of knives are often neglected - what are those you ask? The new ones. The new ones? Yes, the new ones - aka. the knives that were most recently added to the game!

As of now, there are four knife designs that were added to CS:GO at the same time. All of these came with the Shattered Web Operation on November 18th, and added even more variety to the growing depth of knife skins available for purchase.

Paracord Knife

The Paracord Knife is the first of the new knife skins we'll cover. It's a rather simple design, though elegant in how you can see that every inch of the surface area is utilized. Crowned with a menacing tip with a cutting edge to boot, this knife really means business. What makes it really unique is the coils of paracord (parachute cord, the rope originally used in parachutes) wrapped around the handle.

Survival Knife

Up next is the Survival Knife, and you can see the simplicity of the name reflected in the no-nonsense design of the knife. On one side you have a serated edge, and on the other you have a gutting hook. Truly, no space goes to waste in this ultra practical knife.

Knives Out 2019 Budget

Nomad Knife

The Nomad Knife is the third of the knife designs added with the Shattered Web operation in November 2019. It follows a fairly standard design as CS:GO knives go, with a slightly wider blade than some that gives it that beefy, intimidating look you might find on a Huntsman Knife.

Skeleton Knife

The daintiest of the four knives added with Shattered Web, the Skeleton Knife is a really nice design to be added to the game. And you'll be pleased to hear, the hole in the middle of the knife that gives it such a delicate look is used in the in-game animations, meaning this is a knife for those who like to put on a show.

Before the Shattered Web update, there were four new knives introduced along with the Horizon Case in August 2018:

• Talon Knife
• Ursus Knife
• Stiletto Knife
• Navaja Knife

Earlier than August 2018, there were three other knife designs added:

• May 2015 - Falchion Knife
• September 2015 - Shadow Daggers
• Feburary 2016 - Bowie Knife

But don't go just yet! We've had a long search and prepared a list of what we think is the best selection of these eleven newer knives. Check it out below.

1. Ursus Knife Fade - Factory New

Okay. At $400, it isn't the cheapest of knives, but you can't deny that the Ursus Fade is a beauty. The straightness of the Ursus's blade seems to give the Fade a different aura than it has on other knives - less chaotic, more elegant. If this knife fits your budget, it's worth a serious look.

2. Stiletto Knife Damascus Steel - Field Tested

You either love the Stiletto or you hate the Stiletto: it's very rare there's an opinion in between. Everyone who loves it knows that no knife rocks the Damascus Steel look quite as well as the Stiletto does. So, if you're one of the many that love the Stiletto, you know you've gotta get it in Damascus Steel. Field Tested has quite a big jump down in price from Minimal Wear, so if you've got an average budget (around $100), that's the condition to go for.

3. Talon Knife Ultraviolet - Field Tested

The Talon Knife is a bit like the Karambit's brother - they're both curved, menacing-looking, and are loved by many. Often times we find that the Talon's default cream handle contrasts very poorly with the colors a skin brings to a blade. This isn't the case with the Ultraviolet. The purple and dark gray are an awesome combination - futuristic and simple looking at the same time. We'd actually opt for a Field Tested condition Talon Ultraviolet over the Factory new for two reasons: it brings down the price by about 50%, and the scratches look pretty cool.

4. Navaja Knife

The Navaja, unfortunately, looks god-awful and downright silly with colorful skins. We looked through all of the combinations you could get and thought: there has to be at least something that looks good on a Navaja, surely? And then we saw it. The Vanilla Navaja Knife. Instantly our eyes lit up. It's simple and elegant, and although not for everyone, for some people this knife is nothing short of a perfect fit. If you love the look of this beauty as much as we do, it's worth checking out. It isn't too pricey either!

5. Falchion Knife Tiger Tooth - Factory New

The problem with other Tiger Tooth knives? The pattern is only on the blade, leaving the handle empty. Bhagavad gita chapter 12 in kannada. The solution? A Falchion Knife. The Falchion Knife replicates the blade's pattern onto its handle as well, which means good-looking skins like the Tiger Tooth look extra spiffing on it. It's only available in Factory New and Minimal Wear, but the quality doesn't affect the price too much, so you've gotta go with a Factory New condition if you're getting one!

6. Shadow Daggers

When you think of Shadow Daggers, you think of covert ninjas hiding in the darkness - you definitely don't think of colorful rainbows and funky patterns. And although funky patterns are what some people want in an inventory, they aren't for everyone. That's where the Vanilla Shaddow Daggers come in, they are the second Vanilla knife to make an entrance to this list, and it's not hard to see why. They're cheap too, with prices under $70 in some cases. Check them out!

7. Bowie Knife Marble Fade - Factory New

The Bowie Knife was a really hard knife to pick skins to put in this list for because so many skins look great on it. That said, the Marble Fade definitely caught our eye. It's like regular a Fade but more chaotic. Not only is it, in our opinion, the best Bowie Knife skin, but it's definitely up there in our top 25 skins of all time.

8. Ursus Knife Night Stripe - Minimal Wear

So first things first, if you're getting an Ursus Knife, it has to be in either Factory New or Minimal Wear condition. The lower conditions don't look terrible but they can really affect the look and feel of the blade - it's a simple, smooth knife and having scratches and jagged edges just don't go well with its looks. With that out of the way, the Night Stripe is, in our opinion, the nicest Talon you can get at cheaper end of the price spectrum. With a price tag of around $150 in Minimal Wear condition it's not going to break the bank for those with a mid-sized budget. To conclude, it isn't the best, but it's pretty close, and if you love the Talon and are on a budget, we say go for it!

9. Paracord Knife Crimson Web - Field Tested

The Crimson Web knife pattern is a lasting classic in CS:GO, so adding its decoration to one of the newest knives out there is a surefire way to make your knife skin an instant hit in any lobby you join. The Paracord Knife was added along with the Shattered Web operation in November 2019, and its coil-wrapped handle is a really unique addition to add to any inventory.

10. Survival Knife Blue Steel - Minimal Wear

When it’s survival you’re fighting for, there’s no cheaping out. And that’s exactly what you’re fighting for each time you equip your knife in CS:GO. Whether it’s survival against the other team, or survival from the barrage of laughs you’ll hear in Discord if you don’t get the covert knife kill you’re creeping up on somebody to land, it’s always the name of the game. 11. Nomad Knife Slaughter - Factory New

The Nomad Knife: a skin that’s very name hints at the wielder being an army-of-one, a trailblazer, and an adventurist. The practical design compliments this of course, meaning a serious pattern like the Slaughter covering the blade really brings out the meanness of the knife. We look at this and think of the Huntsman knife with a dash more practicality added.

12. Skeleton Knife Fade - Factory New

This new knife skin looks like it should be brandished after being pulled out from a secret leg sheath, or flung across the room like a throwing knife. It does a fantastic job of looking as slender and delicate as possible, which truly sets the Skeleton Knife in a class of its own as CS:GO knives go. Go for this knife in the Fade pattern, and you’ll be able to boast of having the most colorful skeleton in the room. There’s always humor to be found in horror, eh?

13. Paracord Knife Stained - Minimal Wear

Most of the Paracords are going to cost you an arm and a leg, at least the decent-looking ones. The Stained is the exception to this rule. With a mesmerising shiny blade, and subtly patterned handle, if you're on a slim budget and need a Paracord in your loadout, the Paracord Knife Stained is the only option.

14. Survival Knife Safari Mesh - Minimal Wear

Who would've thought that the Survival Knife would wear the Safari Mesh so well? We sure didn't. As is expected with any Safari Mesh skin, the patterning is a tad plain, but it gives this jagged blade the right balance of character.

15. Nomad Knife Case Hardened - Battle Scarred

Did someone say that Battle Scarred doesn't look good? If they did, they were WRONG, because the combination of blackened edges and rainbow-colored blades looks pretty bad-ass to us. What's even better is that a Battle Scarred Nomad Knife is going to cost just a fraction of the price of a higher quality one. Don't be turned off by the 'lower' quality!

At the end of March 2021, shock waves went through Hollywood when Netflix announced that it would produce not one, but two sequels to Rian Johnson's 2019 whodunit Knives Out — for a hefty sum.

After the first film — which boasts a star-studded cast that includes Jamie Lee Curtis, Ana de Armas, Don Johnson, Michael Shannon, Toni Colette, Chris Evans, Katherine Langford, and the late Christopher Plummer, among others — became a breakout success, earning $311 million at the box office on a budget of $40 million and scoring rave reviews from critics across the board, the movie's original studio, Lionsgate, was ready to kick off a bona-fide franchise. Alongside Johnson, Lionsgate announced, in February of 2020, that the writer-director would pen a sequel featuring the original film's star detective, Benoit Blanc (Daniel Craig), featuring an entirely new mystery.

As an analysis in The Hollywood Reporter reveals, Netflix's 'power play' in securing the Knives Out sequels comes down to a few particular factors: the COVID-19 pandemic, and a particularly shrewd deal the streamer offered to director Rian Johnson.

THR reports that Netflix offered Johnson ultimate creative control of both films — meaning they won't even give him any notes or offer input — and as long as Johnson keeps the budget around $40 million and Craig stars in both films, the director and actor both stand to make huge money from the deal. Obviously, this must have been a huge draw for Johnson, but there's also another factor — the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and the state of the film industry.

After movie theaters shuttered en masse thanks to the global health crisis in March 2020, plenty of huge films — including No Time to Die, Craig's final James Bond film — have been either shelved indefinitely or rescheduled repeatedly as the fate of the moviegoing experience is still unknown. With this in mind, it's likely that Johnson, aware that streaming services have become the de facto way for moviegoers to discover new content, knew that Netflix would be the safest bet as the film industry undergoes enormous changes thanks to the coronavirus crisis.

In any case, Lionsgate is out where Knives Out is concerned and Netflix is in, and eventually, Netflix subscribers will get to watch these highly anticipated sequels right from their own home. For now, the first Knives Out movie — a perfectly crafted murder mystery that will keep you guessing until the very end — is available to stream on Amazon Prime.
