Your Connection Is Not Private Microsoft Edge

In any condition, if the website does not satisfy the safety standards, the browser gives a warning that “Your connection is not private” and blocks access to that website. This message means there is a mismatch or an interrupted flow of information that is supposed to remain secure. Chrome says 'your connection is not private' (NET::ERRCERTAUTHORITYINVALID) and I get a similar message from Edge - 'ceritifcate error: navigation blocked' and every website you go to, or try to go, gives you the message: 'There's a problem with this website's security certificate' (and you cannot download anything, etc). When you use InPrivate tabs or windows, your browsing data (like your history, temporary internet files, and cookies) isn't saved on your PC once you're done. In Microsoft Edge, select the Settings and More icon, and then New InPrivate window. In Microsoft Edge, you will also see the error as “Your connection isn’t private.” Attackers might be trying to steal your information from domain.com (for example, passwords, messages, or credit cards). Your website does not have a valid SSL certificate installed.

Resolution

To fix you will need to ensure your website has a valid SSL certificate.

Ecenica shared hosting plans include free SSL certificates from Let’s Encrypt. Every domain you add to your account which is pointed to your Ecenica web hosting plan will automatically have an SSL certificate requested, issued and installed.

Microsoft Edge Privacy Error Bypass

If you’ve recently connected a new domain to your Ecenica web hosting plan there can be a delay in issuing the SSL certificate. This is due to DNS propagation time. During this time you may see the ‘Your connection is not private’ error.

We automatically re-attempt free SSL certificate installs every day. You can also check the status of your free Let’s Encrypt SSL certificate via cPanel.

When you first connect to a Wi-Fi network, you can set it as public or private—depending on the network and what you want to do:

  • Private network. Use this for networks you trust, such as a network at home or work. When a network is set to private, your PC is discoverable to other devices on the network, and you can use your PC for file and printer sharing.

  • Public network. Use this for networks you connect to when you’re out and about, such as a Wi-Fi network at a coffee shop. Your PC will be hidden from other devices on the network, and you can’t use your PC for file and printer sharing.

After you connect to a network the first time, you can change it to public or private at any time.

  3. Type the network password, and then select Next.

  4. When asked if you want your PC to be discoverable to other devices on the network, do one of the following:

    • To set it as a private network where your PC will be discoverable to other devices on the network, choose Yes.

    • To set it as a public network where your PC won’t be discoverable to other devices on the network, choose No.
